Sunday, May 25: 10 am to 5 pm
Last admittance to building: 3:00 pm

The northern part of the Casa Loma Estate, comprising a Stables complex, Potting Shed and Hunting Lodge, was begun in 1905, according to the design of architect E. J. Lennox. Sir Henry Pellatt, one of Edwardian Canada's wealthiest men, was a prominent industrialist, financier and military officer of the Queen's Own Rifles. He lived in this 'country' house while his palatial home, Casa Loma, was constructed between 1911-1913. The Stables complex was the first building erected and accommodated Pellatt's pedigreed horses. An impressive structure, it features red brick and cast stone trim and its Mannerist-inspired design owes much to the stables of large European houses. The Potting Shed, adjoining the Stables, features the remains of a once-glazed semi-circular Conservatory. Today it is used by Casa Loma gardening staff for the propagation of household and bedding plants. Constructed in red brick with cast-stone trim, the Hunting Lodge features elements of the Period Revival style, blending Chateauesque details with touches of the French manor house. Special features include a recessed entrance flanked by two-storey octagonal towers with conical roofs.
Other information:
The Hunting Lodge is accessed by a small flight of stairs. Inside, there is a staircase that separates the ground from the main floors. The Stables is accessed through a gravel courtyard. The main floor is accessible, but the basement is accessed by a flight of stairs. For those wishing to see the Potting Shed, it can be accessed through the basement of the Stables (two flights of stairs), through the Garage (a couple of steps down lead into the Potting Shed) or over grass behind the Hunting Lodge.
