Casa Loma was featured on A&E’s Americas Castles “The Canadians”, raising its profile as a premier tourist attraction in North America.

In October of 2001 Casa Loma was selected as one of only two locations for the BBC Antiques Roadshow's first ever remote in North America.

Casa Loma, originally built between 1911 and 1914 by Sir Henry Pellatt, a prominent Toronto financier, industrialist and military officer, took more than 300 men and approximately $3.5 million to complete. However, Sir Henry experienced financial hardship and was forced to auction off the contents of his home and abandon Casa Loma after only ten years. Following years of neglect, the Castle was leased from the City and restored by the Kiwanis Club of Casa Loma. Their hard work and tireless efforts led to the Castles’ official opening as a tourist attraction in 1937 and they have managed the site since that date. Annual net proceeds from the Castle are used by the Kiwanis Club of Casa Loma for a wide range of charitable and community projects.
